On Wednesday, January 25th, Washington D.C. will play host to the star-studded world premiere of Universal Picture’s newest film Big Miracle. The event will be co-hosted by both Universal pictures and The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). While the film itself is based on a heartwarming true story, the connection that the film, and its premiere have to the TAPS organization and Washington D.C. is also a heartwarming true story in itself.

But let’s be honest, seeing a movie on a big screen with powerful surround sound is what makes us feel we can justify the ever-increasing expense of purchasing a ticket at the local movie theater. So when Rave announced that it would be constructing one of their raveXtreme auditoriums in my local city of Fairfax, Virginia I was excited. So does it live up to expectations?

With the exception of the Shrek films, Eddie Murphy has not had a successful movie in what seems like well over a decade. I don’t know whether or not his humor is just simply not what America expects or wants to see or something else, but every film he’s chosen has fallen flat on its face. But teaming up with Ben Stiller who’s had hit after hit, this was his big chance to make a comeback. The trailer was amusing and looked like the movie as well as Murphy’s performance had some potential to be a lot of fun. And in this case, the film actually lived up to the expectations I had after watching the trailer.
