Universal Pictures has found their man to direct Memphis, a film about one of the major icons of the Civil Rights era. Which icon, you might ask? Read on to find out…..
According to Deadline, Paul Greengrass (in the first picture seen above) has been chosen to write and direct their upcoming drama Memphis, a film which will focus on the assassination of Martin Luther King. The project marks Greengrass’ return in working with the studio, after turning down the opportunity of directing a fourth Bourne film. Despite the poor box office return of The Green Zone, Greengrass directed two successful Bourne sequels for Universal as well as the Oscar-nominated United 93.
According to the article, the picture will be produced by Scott Rudin, the Oscar-nominated producer of Best Picture nominees, The Social Network and True Grit. Production is scheduled to begin in June.
